AI Copyrights Case: OpenAI refuses to delete ANI content, claims “no jurisdiction”
By Staff Writer in Media News on Thursday, 23rd January 2025 at 9:38pmIn one of the most high-profile and closely tracked lawsuits on AI use in India, OpenAI, the American artificial intelligence research organisation headed by Sam Altman, has claimed that any order to remove training data for their product ChatGPT would breach US laws.
This was in response to a suit filed by Asian News International, a leading news agency in India, for violating its intellectual property rights, Reuters reported.
ANI filed a lawsuit against the US AI giant in November 2024, accusing it of using its published content to train its chatbot without consent. The news agency is seeking INR 20 million for the damages.
