Clive Robertson, the iconic Australian radio and TV broadcaster has died at the age of 78 after battling cancer. His passing was announced today, though he died last week, Radio Info reported. Robertson’s illustrious career began in 1972 at ABC Radio, followed by stints at 2Day FM, 2UE, and Classic FM, where he transitioned seamlessly between commercial and public broadcasting.  In the 1980s, he moved to television, hosting a late-night news show that became famous for its satirical edge and offbeat commentary.  He also hosted Beauty and the Beast and gained notoriety for his sharp, humorous exchanges with co-hosts Caroline Jones and Margaret Throsby. Jackson Ryan stoked to win HITS Journalist-in-Residence program.

Award-winning tech, science, and gaming journalist and SJAA President Jackson Ryan has said he is stoked to be offered the opportunity to be the Journalist-In-Residence at the Heidelberg Institute of Theoretical Studies in Germany for next year.  “I was absolutely stoked,” Ryan said. “It was honestly pretty bleary-eyed because I got the email overnight, and I rolled out of bed and saw, oh wow, I’ve won this thing, which is fantastic.” HITS’ Journalist-In-Residence program has been running for a decade now. Ryan says his interest in one day participating in it came from a friend who had previously undertaken the residency.  “I'm always looking around for fellowships and opportunities for our SJAA membership and myself; this one is one I've had my eye on for a while.” “Carl Smith, the vice president of the Science Journalists Association, did this residency a couple of years ago, and he really enjoyed it.
