WAVES 2025 Unites Global M&E Industry

The Government of India will host an outreach event today at 4:30 PM at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, ahead of the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025.  The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is hosting this outreach event to invite global participation in the Global Media Dialogue ahead of the first WAVES Declaration in Mumbai on May 2, 2025.  Union Ministers S. Parliamentary panel urges MIB to introduce Broadcasting Services Bill

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology has urged the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) to introduce the Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill in Parliament, according to a report tabled on Tuesday. On January 17, the MIB informed the committee that it would draft a revised version of the bill and prepare a Cabinet Note for inter-ministerial consultation following stakeholder discussions, which were extended until October 15, 2024, reported Hindustan Times. The draft will then be submitted for cabinet approval. The committee, in its fifty-sixth report, recommended consolidating regulations for the cable TV industry under a single act, replacing the current framework governed by multiple laws and regulatory bodies, including the MIB, TRAI, and the Department of Telecommunications. After nearly four years, Jillian Davison has stepped down as editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar Australia and New Zealand.  Since taking the helm in 2021, Davison has played a pivotal role in relaunching the magazine, revitalising its content and creative direction amid a challenging period for the publishing industry, Mumbrella reported.
