Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEEL) has received approval from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to withdraw its application related to the arbitration process for its merger with Sony Pictures Networks India, according to an official statement in ZEE's press release. This resolution marks the conclusion of a nearly three-year legal dispute. On Thursday, Zee announced in their release that the NCLT had agreed to the withdrawal of the scheme, effectively revoking the previous order issued on August 10, 2023, which had sanctioned the merger between ZEEL, Bangla Entertainment Private Limited (BEPL), and Culver Max Entertainment (CME). In response to the NCLT approval, ZEEL's shares saw a 3.26 per cent rise, reaching Rs 139.15 per share on the BSE on Friday. In August 2024, despite the ongoing legal issues, Zee and Sony Pictures Networks India reached a non-cash settlement, amicably resolving the matter.

By Pragadish Kirubakaran in Media News on Friday, 13th September 2024 at 3:58pm
Sitaram Yechury, a stalwart of Indian communism and the CPI(M), passed away at 72, leaving a formidable legacy in Indian politics. Known for his pragmatic and intellectual approach, Yechury became a face of the Left’s ideological fight against right-wing policies, particularly forging anti-BJP coalitions. As many well-informed authors have noted, Yechury's life was marked by his intellectual contributions to Marxism and his political engagements across the country. Manoj CG for The Indian Express detailed Yechury's career, emphasising his balancing act of "ideological purity" with the need for political alliances, particularly in opposing the BJP's rise. The article portrayed him as a communist pragmatist who, despite CPI(M)'s decline, continued advocating for working-class causes, human rights, and secularism. Economic Times covered the ceremonial aspects, like the donation of his body to AIIMS, reflecting his commitment to science and education. The report also highlighted Yech
