Aaj Tak recorded the highest YouTube viewership among Hindi news channels during live coverage of the Indian armed forces’ early morning strike on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, aptly named "Operation Sindoor". According to Best Media Info, Aaj Tak’s main live stream averaged 1,10,057 viewers between 2 am and 11 am, peaking at over 4,00,000—more than six times that of its nearest competitor. The digital surge came as millions turned to YouTube for real-time updates on the precision operation. In comparison, India TV recorded an average of 17,454 viewers, News18 India averaged 10,875, while other channels such as TV9 Bharatvarsh, ABP News, and Republic Bharat remained in single-digit thousands. Mediaweek - self-described as "Australia's media industry Bible" - is on the hunt for a new editor, with job posts going up on both Seek and and LinkedIn today. The move comes following the redundancy some three weeks ago of Emma Shepherd who had been appointed Editor-in-Chief with responsibility for the day-to-day news agenda and editorial product for Mediaweek back in October.  At the same time Shepherd was appointed, Frances Sheen was made Head of Content at Vinyl Media, overseeing all editorial. Shepherd - a very experienced operator with previous roles as Deputy Editor of  Mumbrella and Editorial Content Manager for The Trade Desk in the APAC region, was poached by Mediaweek while Director of Communications at AFFINITY Group. Nearly two weeks after 26 civilians were killed in the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, India answered — not with fury, but with finesse. In the early hours of Wednesday, Operation Sindoor was launched, striking nine identified terror infrastructure targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Ministry of External Affairs clarified the operation was "focused, measured and non-escalatory", aimed only at Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen camps and avoided any civilian or military infrastructure. Network18 has launched a print advertising campaign in The Indian Express and Business Standard, citing Comscore’s March 2025 data to claim a clear lead over Times Internet across web and social media platforms. According to the ad, Network18 reached 315 million unique visitors in March, 55 per cent more than Times Internet’s 202 million. On social media, Network18 posted 212 million unique visitors, significantly higher than Times Internet’s 34 million, based on a Comscore report. The campaign also spotlighted News18’s reach of 251 million unique visitors, surpassing The Times of India’s 182 million by 38 per cent. Moneycontrol, Network18’s business news platform, registered 39.33 million unique visitors across mobile and desktop,15 per cent ahead of The Economic Times, which reported 34.14 million. The group positioned Moneycontrol as a preferred source for corporate leaders, entrepreneurs and market watchers.

As artificial intelligence continues to make inroads into numerous industries, its role in journalism has become a topic of hot discussion among media professionals. We spoke to News Corp journalist Stuart Kavanagh for his take on AI’s usefulness in regional journalism. In an Insider interview with Kavanagh he said when it comes to writing stories AI's current capabilities face notable limitations, particularly when it comes to nuanced reporting and interview situations.  "Most good stories live in the gray area, in the nuances, and AI doesn't do nuance," says Kavanagh.  He believes while AI can assist in building stories, it cannot fully replace human journalists, especially in face-to-face interviews and complex narrative development. Major media organisations are developing their own AI systems for editorial use, including Kavanagh’s employer News Corp which has been working on its proprietary AI system, though its implementation on News’ regional news outlets appears
