Toxicity at work has become an increasingly alarming concern across industries with many professionals using social media to vent out about this pervasive issue. Newsrooms have been no exception.
A few weeks ago, Laasya Shekhar, an independent journalist, shared a post recounting challenges she encountered in newsrooms over the years.
“In legacy media, the more you work, the more you are deemed fit to be a journalist,” she said, “I had editors who slept for less than four hours and expected their reporters to do the same and editors who asked for more than three or four copies a day (specials included).”
