IBDF demands transparency in DD FreeDish slot auctions
By Staff writer in Media News on Friday, 29th August 2025 at 10:27pmThe Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation (IBDF), has urged Prasar Bharati to adopt a much transparent and predictable system for auctioning slots on its free direct-to-home (DTH) services, DD Free Dish.
As per the report in e4m, IBDF has expressed concerns over lack of fair competition and have urged the pubcaster while responding to a July 25 consultation on auction methodology, that the existing process creates uncertainty that complicates the business decisions.
The body has further suggested that before each auction, Prasar Bharati should release key details such as the total number of slots on offer, how many remain unsold after every round and a bucket-wise list of applications along with the final roster of eligible and ineligible participants.
